Charging Port Repair at Riverlink

Charging Port Repair in Ipswich

Charging port repair in Ipswich, from a clean to micro-soldering

When a phone only charges if the cable is propped at just the right angle, the port is usually to blame. For charging port repair in Ipswich, come and see us at Mr. Phone Riverlink, our kiosk inside Riverlink Shopping Centre. Depending on what we find, the fix might be a careful clean, a repair to the port itself, or micro-soldering on the board.

Signs your charging port needs attention

  • Loose fit — the plug wobbles or slides out with the slightest tug.
  • On-off charging — the charging symbol flickers whenever the phone moves.
  • Crawling charge speeds, even with a cable and adapter that work fine on other devices.
  • Not recognised by your computer or car when you plug in.
  • Nothing at all, after you've already tried a second cable.

Swap the cable and power adapter first. If the phone still won't charge properly, bring it in for a free diagnostic. A battery near the end of its life can mimic a port fault, and the check shows us which one you're dealing with.

Ports we work on

We repair all three common connectors: Lightning on older iPhones, USB-C on newer iPhones and most current Samsung Galaxy, Oppo and Google Pixel phones and tablets, and Micro-USB on older Android phones and tablets. Not sure which one you have? Text your phone's model to 0420 896 369 and we'll tell you.

How long it takes and what's covered

  • 30 to 60 minutes for most port repairs, while you wait. If a part has to be ordered in, it takes longer and we let you know when.
  • No charge for the check if the port can't be repaired or the repair isn't worth doing.
  • Warranty for 180 days, covering the parts we fitted and how we fitted them.
  • Premium aftermarket parts, tested before and after fitting, with our price-match guarantee.

Keep the port clean

Pocket lint is a very common reason a port stops gripping the cable. It packs down a little tighter every time you plug in, until the connector can't seat properly. Don't dig it out with a pin, a toothpick or a paperclip, which can bend the tiny contacts; bring it to us and we'll clean it. Keeping the phone in a clean pocket or bag helps it stay that way.
